KNOW UR CHARACTER, IF....

"The next time you're in a bar, it might be worth thinking about what you're saying to the people around you just by the way you're holding your glass."
Dr Glenn Wilson, a consultant psychologist at King's College, London, observed over 500 drinkers in bars last month.
He analysed drinkers' body language and then advised on their openness to being approached.
He has categorised them as the 'Flirt', 'Gossip', 'Fun-Lover', 'Wallflower', 'Ice Queen', 'Playboy', 'Jack the Lad' and 'Browbeater'.
He said the most open to being chatted up were "the flirt, the playboy, and the funlover". Harder to crack are the jack the lad, the ice queen, the wallflower and the gossip. The browbeater should be avoided.
Dr Wilson said: "The simple act of holding a drink displays a lot more about us than we realise – or might want to divulge.
The study was carried out for the Walkabout bar chain. The eight types identified are:
1. The Flirt: Usually a woman, who holds her glass with dainty, splayed fingers and uses it in a provocative way. She may position it over her cleavage so as to draw attention to her attributes or peer over the rim to make eye contact when taking a sip. She may "tease" the rim of the glass with her finger, perhaps dipping it into the drink and sucking it dry. Assuming her agenda is appealing, the best way to approach is with reciprocal flirtatious gestures.
Celebrities: Jordan, Paris Hilton, Kate Walsh (from The Apprentice)
2. The Gossip: This (mainly female) drinker tends to cluster in all-female groups talking about other people, and can be critical. She holds a wine glass by the bowl and uses it to gesticulate and make points in conversation. She is inclined to lean over her drink, in towards others so as to speak confidentially. This person already has a close-knit social group with little inclination to extend it, therefore advances from outsiders are not usually welcome.
Celebrities: Kate Moss, Sadie Frost.
3. The Fun-lover: This type of drinker may be a man or a woman, who drinks to be sociable and values togetherness. A convivial individual, he / she enjoys being with their friends, and likes a laugh. Swigs taken from bottled drinks are short, so they don't miss out on chipping in with the conversation. The bottle is held loosely at its shoulder for ease. This type of person is always happy to extend their social circle. The best way to approach them therefore is to leap directly into light, good-humoured conversation and make them laugh.
Celebrities: Sarah Harding, Helen Chamberlain (from Soccer AM)
4. The Wallflower: This is a shy, submissive individual who holds the glass protectively, not letting go, as though afraid somebody will take it away. Palms are kept hidden and the glass is used as a social crutch – the drink is never quite finished, with a mouthful left in case of emergency. The drink is small (maybe half a pint of lager for a man). It may be drunk through a straw, which is fidgeted with, and used to stir the drink between sips. The style and pace of drinking is an echo of those around them (very little is initiated). This individual needs to be approached in a gentle, sensitive way, with perhaps a few understated compliments to build self-confidence, but may eventually warm to overtures.
Celebrities: Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman
5. The Ice-queen: This is a mainly female type whose natural style is cold and defensive. She drinks from a wine glass, or a short glass, which is held firmly in a barrier position across the body so as to deter intimate approaches. It is usually a waste of time approaching this woman; she may be ready with a castrating put-down.
Celebrities: Victoria Beckham, Debra Barr (from The Apprentice)
6. The Playboy
This man is the active, self-confident, Don Juan-type seducer. He uses his (usually long) glass or bottle as a phallic prop, playing with it suggestively. He is inclined to be possessive, and can be tactile with his female companions.
Celebrities: Russell Brand, David Walliams
7. The Jack the Lad: This "peacock" is conscious of his image and will drink a bottled beer, or cider. Inclined to be confident and arrogant, he can be territorial in his gestures, spreading himself over as much space as possible, for example, pushing the glass well away from himself and leaning back in his chair. If he's drinking with his mates, he would be unlikely to welcome approaches from outside the group, unless sycophantic and ego-enhancing.
Celebrities: Peter Andre, David Cameron, Jason Statham. The "ladette" (e.g. Lily Allen) is a female approximation to this male archetype.
8. The Browbeater: This rather pugnacious type is again mostly male. He prefers large glasses, or bottles, which he uses as symbolic weapons, firmly grasped, and gesticulating in a threatening, "in the face" kind of way. Something of a know-it-all, he comes across as slightly hostile, even if only through verbal argument, or jokes targeted at others. He should be approached with great care, or not at all.
Celebrities: John Prescott, Russell Crowe (with Naomi Campbell as a female equivalent), Gordon Brown.

Because it is there......George Leigh Mallory

"Why do you want to climb Mt. Everest?" with the retort: "because it's there", which has been called "the most famous four words in mountaineering". Those were the word of George Leigh Mallory.

George Herbert Leigh Mallory (18 June 1886 – 8 June/9 June 1924) was an English mountaineer who took part in the first three British expeditions to Mount Everest in the early 1920s. On the third expedition, in June 1924, Mallory and his climbing partner Andrew Irvine both disappeared somewhere high on the North-East ridge during their attempt to make the first ascent of the world's highest mountain. The pair's last known sighting was only a few hundred metres from the summit. Mallory's ultimate fate was unknown for 75 years, until his body was finally discovered in 1999. Whether or not they reached the summit before they died remains a subject of speculation and continuing research.

In 1921 he participated in the British Reconnaissance Expedition, organised and financed by the Mount Everest Committee, that explored routes up to the North Col of Mount Everest. The expedition produced the first accurate maps of the region around the mountain. Although he was accompanied by several senior members of Britain's Alpine Club and by surveyors based in India, the debilitating effect of altitude meant that Mallory, his climbing partner Guy Bullock and E. O. Wheeler of the Survey of India performed most of the exploration of the slopes. Under Mallory's leadership, and with the assistance of around a dozen Sherpas, the group climbed several lower peaks near Everest. His party were almost certainly the first Westerners to view the Western Cwm at the foot of the Lhotse face, as well as charting the course of the Rongbuk Glacier up to the base of the North Face. After circling the mountain from the south side, his party finally discovered the East Rongbuk Glacier--the highway to the summit now used by nearly all climbers on the Tibetan side of the mountain. By climbing up to the saddle of the North Ridge (the North Col, 23,000-ft, 7000m), Mallory not only became the first human to set foot on the actual mountain, but spied a route to the summit via the North-East Ridge over the obstacle of the Second Step.
In 1922 Mallory returned to the Himalaya as part of the party led by Brig-Gen Charles Bruce and climbing leader Edward Strutt, with a view to making a serious attempt on the summit. Eschewing their bottled oxygen, on ethical grounds, Mallory led his climbing team of Howard Somervell and Edward Norton almost to the crest of the North-East ridge. Despite being hampered and slowed by the thin air, they achieved a record altitude of 26,985 ft (8,225 m) before weather conditions and the late hour forced them to retreat. A second party led by George Finch reached a height of approx. 27,300 feet (8,321 m) using bottled oxygen (both for climbing and--a first--for sleeping) and climbing at record speeds--a fact that Mallory seized upon during the next expedition. Mallory organised a third attempt on the summit, departing as the monsoon arrived.
While Mallory was leading a group of porters down the lower slopes of the North Col of Everest in fresh, waist-high snow, an avalanche swept over the group, killing seven Sherpas. The attempt was immediately abandoned, and Mallory returned home to face criticism for poor judgement, a criticism that was to follow him to the next expedition.
After Mallory & irvine disappeared in third expedition in 1924,Keen-sighted expedition colleague Noel Odell reported the following:
At 12.50, just after I had emerged from a state of jubilation at finding the first definite fossils on Everest, there was a sudden clearing of the atmosphere, and the entire summit ridge and final peak of Everest were unveiled. My eyes became fixed on one tiny black spot silhouetted on a small snow-crest beneath a rock-step in the ridge; the black spot moved. Another black spot became apparent and moved up the snow to join the other on the crest. The first then approached the great rock-step and shortly emerged at the top; the second did likewise. Then the whole fascinating vision vanished, enveloped in cloud once more.
Even if evidence is uncovered which shows that George Mallory or Andrew Irvine reached the summit of Everest in 1924, some believe that the historical record should not be changed to state that they made the first ascent, displacing Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. Many mountaineers maintain that a successful first ascent not only involves reaching the summit, but also returning to the bottom. Indeed, George Mallory's own son John Mallory, who was only three years old when his father died, said:
"To me the only way you achieve a summit is to come back alive. The job is half done if you don't get down again".
John Mallory had mixed feelings about his dead father's celebrity status, explaining that he would far rather have had a father than a legend.

Some people have dreams that are so outrageous that if they were to achieve them , their place in the history would be guaranteed. Mallory was such a man but what if he had fulfilled his dream , there was no proof that he had acheived his ambition???

In 1995, Mallory's grandson, George Mallory II, reached the summit of Everest via the North Ridge with six other climbers, as part of the American Everest Expedition 1995.

Jan Gann Mann Rann...

Ram Gopal Verma once touted as new face of indian cinema, lost his way somewhere. He gave us movie like Satya,Company but somewhere he forgot seated audience between him & screen. He made movie like james, aag,Darling, which he liked & rejected by hoi polloi. Now, he is coming with new battle called "Rann". the tailor of movie unveiled in a press conference & many of reporters were taken aback when they heard " Jan Gann Mann Rann." They are saying how can someone remix with our national anthem "Jan Gann Mann. " I knew the controversy will be soon & volcano will erupt as movie progresses towards release . Ramu is now coming on different channels on tampering with our hundred year old anthem. He is right when he is saying it is right of freedom of expression in a democratic country. Suppose, We are agree with him & censor pass the song for movie.Assure us, It won't set a trend for tempering our national anthem??? Some one is saying that Munna bhai series used "Vande Matram, bande me tha dum.." So, one can also temper "jan gan mann..". the difference between two tempering is vande matram is praising gandhi & jan gann mann rann seems a dirge.I am not hesitant & there is no doubt that india is facing different problems from internal security, terrorism, poverty etc. Though, we are called a democratic country but we never develop a system where there is healthy discussion on issue related to nation. We dont need to sing it like a dirge...Thank You- ramu for giving us a topic to discuss. Somebody rightly said cinema is mirror of our society. Hope, U'll pass this time Mr. Verma & god bless "Rann".Also give some real topic to our news channel rather than nagg devta or shani bhagwaan.......The New[S] battle should real...
